Materials

  • Velvet yarn (size 4)
  • Crochet hook (3.5mm)
  • Yarn needle
  • Plushie stuffing
  • Safety eyes (8mm)
  • Scissors

*For the bigger version, I used size 6 blanket yarn with a 6mm crochet hook

Start with black or dark grey yarn

  • R1: 8sc in magic ring (8)
  • R2: inc in every st (16)
  • R3: [sc, inc] x8 (24)
  • R4: [3sc, inc] x6 (30)
  • R5-6 (2 rounds): sc in every st (30)
  • R7: 11sc, (white) 3sc, (black) 3sc, (white) 3sc, (black) 10sc (30)
  • R8: [4sc, inc]x2, (white) 5sc, (black) inc, (white) 5sc, (black) inc, 3sc, inc, 3sc, inc (36)
  • R9-10 (2 rounds): 11sc, (white) 14sc, (black) 11sc (36)
  • R11: (black) 12sc, (white) 13sc, (light grey) 11sc (36)
  • R12: [8sc, inc] x4 (40)
  • R13-14 (2 rounds): sc in every st (40)

Beak

With orange yarn

  • R2: [2sc, inc] x2 (8)
  • R3: [1sc, inc] x4 (12)
  • R4: [1sc, dec] x4 (8)
  • SL ST, FO, and leave yarn tail to sew

 

Assembly

  • Sew the beak between the eyes R9-10, about 3 stitches across
  • Sew the wings R11-12, about 3 stitches behind the eyes
