Materials
- Yarn (size 4) yellow, green, orange
- Crochet hook (3.5mm)
- Safety eyes (8mm)
- Yarn needle
- Plushie stuffing
- Scissors
- (optional) Stitch markers

- CH - Chain
- SC - Single crochet
- HDC - Half double crochet

Directions
Body + Head
With yellow yarn:
- R1: 6sc in magic ring (6)
- R2: inc every st (12)
- R3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
- R4: [2sc, inc] x6 (24)
- R5: [3sc, inc] x6 (30)
- R6: [4sc, inc] x6 (36)
- R7-11 (5 rounds): sc in every st (36)
- R12: [4sc, dec] x6 (30)
- R13: [3sc, dec] x6 (24)
- R14: [2sc, dec] x6 (18)
- Add stuffing and safety eyes between R7-8 (about 4 stitches apart)
- R15: [sc, dec] x6 (12)
- R16: dec x6 (6)
- FO and sew closed
Wings x2
With yellow yarn:
- R1: 6sc in magic ring (6)
- R2: inc every st (12)
- SL ST and leave yarn tail to sew
Beak
With orange yarn:
- R1: ch3, turn
- R2: dc in 2nd ch from hook, tr
- FO and leave yarn tail to sew
Sapling / Sprout
With green yarn:
- pull a slip knot through the top of the head
- chain 9, turn
- sc in 2nd chain from hood, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st
- chain 6, turn
- sc in 2nd chain from hood, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st
- sl st in the last two chains
- FO and hide the ends
Assembly
- Sew the wings on either sides of the body
- Sew the beak between the eyes
