Introduction

Step-by-step beginner friendly tutorial on how to make a chubby witch crow with velvet yarn. You can also make a larger plushie with blanket yarn. This pattern is NO SEW, unless you'd like to sew the hat on. Halloween themed amigurumi plushie.

Materials

  • Velvet yarn (size 4 or size 6)
  • Crochet hook (3.5mm or 6mm)
  • Yarn needle
  • Plushie stuffing
  • Scissors
  • Safety eyes or embroidery thread
  • (optional) Stitch markers

 

Abbreviations

  • MR - Magic Ring
  • CH - Chain
  • SC - Single Crochet
  • HDC - Half Double Crochet
  • DC - Double Crochet
  • TR - Treble Crochet
  • INC - Increase
  • DEC - Decrease
  • ST - Stitch
  • SL ST - Slip Stitch

 

Directions

Head + Body

  • R1: 8sc in magic ring (8)
  • R2: [sc, inc] x4 (12)
  • R3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
  • R4: [2sc, inc] x6 (24)
  • R5: sc in every st (24)
  • R6: [3sc, inc] x6 (30)
  • R7-10 (4 rounds): sc in every st (30)
  • R11: 10sc, BO, 8sc, BO, 10sc (30)
  • R12: [3sc, dec]x6 (24)
  • Add stuffing and safety eyes between R6-7 (5st apart)
  • R13: 12dec (12)
  • R14: 6dec (6)
  • SL ST and FO

 

Beak

  • insert hook 1 stitch from the center of R7/R8
  • ch2, hdc, ch1
  • slip sitch in next stitch

 

Wing x2

  • insert your hook into R7-8, 4 stitches from the beak
  • ch3, 3trc, ch3
  • slip sitch in next stitch

 

Tail

  • insert your hook into R7-8
  • ch4, [3trc in same st], ch4
  • slip sitch in next stitch

  • R2: incx3 (6)
  • R3: [2sc, inc] x2 (8)
  • R4: [3sc, inc] x2 (10)
  • R5: [4sc, inc] x2 (12)
